In prehistoric Europe, Bain of the Hunting Clan flees his people, eventually encountering Arma of the Farming Clan. But the Hunters have followed their lost sheep, and when the two peoples clash, Bain and Arma rescue the Farmers' clan healer, Kalva, and flee with her to the east.
