Family Challenges in a Post-9/11 World

Maren and Paul McCloud's combined, multi-generational family faces many challenges during the post 9-11 era, including raising two adopted children, the sudden, mysterious loss of Paul’s job, his work as a doctor in Afghanistan, and their move from Colorado to the village of Dexum, Illinois.

When Maren’s grown son Matt moves home, he involves the family in his own challenging relationships and in the mysterious events around Dexum. A shooting in the neighborhood may have been intended for Matt.

Maren must salvage her marriage, protect her family, and preserve her own identity. The family learns to use five keys to open the doors to a happy life.
