Farming the Wind

tells the story of Franny, a third grader who lives on her family farm in the midwest. Its a small dairy farm of which she is very proud, but her family struggles to prosper, which worries Franny. When the opportunity occurs to participate in a wind power project, Frannys parents are quickly interested. This eagerness excites Franny who soon learns about the enormity of such a project as well as its importance. The Windmill Man, their contact with the project, recognizes Frannys delight in new possibilities and eagerly embraces her curiosity and questions. The story is accompanied by factual information that brings windpowers importance in the 21st century into focus.
