Farming System Approach

Farming system approach is gaining lot of importance in recent years, so a need is felt to work out the predominant farming systems, their economics and resource productivity of crop and non-crop enterprises in this region. The land holding is decreasing and the productivity, profitability and sustainability of per unit land is also drastically declining. The farmers are shifting to urban areas for want of livelihood security. Therefore, the land has come to strategize our agricultural production system in an integrated farming system mode, so that the output of one enterprise can be used as input for another component.

Before focusing our attention towards improvement in holistic and innovative approach under farming systems, it becomes imperative to quantify and characterize the present scenario of farming system studies among the different peasants of various land holdings across all the three agro-climatic zones. This will not only help the academicians, researchers and policy planners to strategize the planning but will also help in understanding the various constraints being faced by the farmers.

The book will be proved a boon for all agricultural students in general and students of Agricultural Economics in particular as the book contains all the procedure for economic study of Integrated Farming System.
