William James believed that events could not be catalogued simply as a series of facts, but had to be considered through the lens of experience.

Thus each person affects and modifies their own reality based on their own unique experiences and points of view.

Ultimately you can quantify facts, but only if you understand how the person looking at these facts will affect and change them.
