Other proposed causes may be exposure to lead, alcohol, and tobacco use during pregnancy, low birth weight, premature delivery, and brain injury. No research concludes that poverty, family problems, and too much television or consuming large amounts of sugar cause ADHD, though these factors may exacerbate symptoms.
