Introduction

A great pumpkin grew on our allotment. It was grown for our grandchildren to take to school on Halloween. No human wanted it, and it ended up back in the compost bin. But many creatures living on the allotment did want it, especially the Easies.

The Easies

This is a story of ancient creatures—the Easies—who have lived in the quiet lands away from people. They are talented and determined, and they have evolved special powers. Nowadays they are very fast, small, and chameleon-like. In that, they can change shape and color. They can also communicate telepathically.

Challenges and Survival

Loss of land and habitat means that they now are forced to live much closer to people. One tribe's home has recently been destroyed, and they desperately need shelter and food to tide them over the coming winter.

The Pumpkin-Easies

This is the story about how they overcame many difficulties and won the right to live within their great pumpkin and become Pumpkin-Easies.
