They did everything right.

They never moved alone but as a group, in broad daylight, on well-traveled routes, not deviating from where they were supposed to be, and yet, within sight of school, and not far away from home, nineteen girls got kidnapped!

They had not invited it in any way, they did not bargain for the helpless, hopeless situation in which they found themselves. The question was how much of their previous training they could count on to survive or escape if they ever got the opportunity to do so.
