Book Synopsis

It is the fall of 1983 when Simone Henderson arrives at her favorite park in Rialto, California, to meet her boyfriend Dexter Kirkland. Dexter believes he is destined for a career in the minor league football league, but everything is about to change when he learns that Simone is eight weeks pregnant with his baby.

Dexter feels trapped, but, even as a sense of helplessness overwhelms him, he cannot deny the passion he holds for Simone. But Dexter has even bigger problems. His ex-girlfriend Katrina Smith, who is nearly stalking him, is seeking revenge for his wandering eyes; his father is seriously ill; and Simone has just found a gold earring in his apartment that does not belong to her.

As Dexter attempts to sort out his feelings for two women, Simone finds herself being pursued by Barry Jordan, a doctor at the Planned Parenthood clinic where she works. Dr. Jordan only wants one thing—for Simone to forget Dexter.

As Simone continues her journey into a world of manipulation, love, and betrayal, Dexter is embroiled in a fierce battle between his insatiable craving for women and his desire to become a man of principles.
