Story Overview

As a little boy takes a walk throughout nature, he discovers a variety of creatures in different environments who have a problem. He meets a parrot who cannot talk well. He happens upon a camel who craves ice cream. He encounters a zebra who wants to learn how to do a handstand. And, he finds a penguin who needs to improve his football skills.

Theme and Message

In each meeting, the boy helps the animals learn how to solve their issues. He shows them no matter what they dream of doing—there’s a way to develop that skill. A picture book for children, Don’t Cry, Learn! communicates the important message that instead of feeling unhappy, there is a way to take responsibility, solve problems, and live a happy life.
