About the Book

The memoir of Rev. Nachman Berkowitz, a Holocaust survivor who lived to become a Cantor, Torah reader, B''nai Mitzvah teacher, and scribe.

From his beginnings as a poor yeshiva student in Poland, he learned to be a Torah reader and survived many trials and tribulations, including a Soviet Gulag (labor camp), before emigrating to the United States.
