Books are not merely stories to be read and forgotten.

Rather they are the vehicle that transports us to an era or place that may have accumulated the dust of time. The novel The Daughters of the is a true story of the three Japanese girls who were sent to America to learn their modern American ways and come back to fulfil their mission to educate the Japanese women back home.

This was an initiative taken by the Japanese Government that felt that women empowerment would come only by the western understanding of women's education and the opportunities that have been provided to them.
