British sleuth Patrick Dawlish has his doubts when a case takes him into the dark side of spiritualism in this entrancing Golden Age mystery.

Writer and psychic Charles Horden has no problem attracting the women of London. They seem to throw themselves—and their money—at him, leaving a trail of indignant husbands behind them. Patrick Dawlish’s wife hasn’t fallen prey to his charms, but she does believe that Horden is in danger.
