Crosspool Through Time
Introduction
Situated on a hill overlooking the Rivelin valley, Crosspool was once described as being more like a health resort than a thriving suburb. Prior to the turn of the nineteenth century, it was a sparsely populated group of hamlets with farms and a cottage industry.
Development
The building of the road to Manchester, in 1820, proved to be the stimulus needed to begin development of the area. Massive development a hundred years later transformed the area into an attractive and sought after place to live.
Modern Day
The early years of the twenty-first century are captured here and contrasted with Crosspool's past. The area continues to change but this collection of photographs captures this journey through time.
