Introduction

This book is based on the papers presented at a seminar organised by the Giri Institute of Development Studies, Lucknow. The 35 papers included in the book have been classified into seven main subthemes:

The present book examines in detail the different issues relating to the problems of rural-urban fringe and its management. It also covers the rural-urban fringe in a comprehensive and multidimensional perspective. It will be of great interest for teachers, students, research scholars as well as policy makers interested in issues of urban development planning.
