Introduction

In the spring of 2005 a group of men began a journey that lasted for a year and a half, covered thousands of miles, and would change their lives forever. Over the course of two seasons, the cross country team at Downers Grove South High School rose from obscurity to one of the most formidable teams in the state, capturing the hearts and minds of athletes around the state with their courageous effort.
