All things must break

For nature can never be at ease or steady: So the earth's crust breaks sea onto land, To end some species' reign. So the bud breaks to bare the leaf, And the sod is broken for the new shoot; And a rock breaks to sand - For all is at stake! But for us there will be belief, When in time we break with strain, If we have already forgone the brute and known ourselves a kinder, quieter name.
