Richard Kenyada assesses the progress we have made in our quest to find the key element that unites us as Americans and, further, as human beings. The term "post racial" popped up after the first Obama victory, but the mood of the country has not reflected that kind of hope. In many ways, Americans seem to be drawing their own lines in the sand. But it’s no longer the historic us-against-them of the Cold War era. The lines are being drawn between Americans - races, classes, genders, and sexual orientation.
