Ed returns to the Bitterroot Mountains, sets up camp, and takes a new identity above the Clark Fork River. No accusations. No temptations. No abuse. He keeps to himself, makes camp safe from bears and rain, but his inner life turns to disturbing flashbacks and nightmares.
