Synopsis

On the run from school bullies, eleven-year-old Lucy discovers an abandoned building. She climbs through a basement window and discovers a fantastical world of political animals. Within the parliament, an uprising is stirring that threatens both humans and beasts. It is led by two unscrupulous canines, Mr Hughes and Contessa Cavalier.
Under the guidance of a judicious rabbit named Lady Speaker, Lucy embarks on a journey to restore peace and justice. When violence escalates, the pair tries to escape. Within the Animal House, Lucy learns that in dark times, some animals show courage while others hide behind their plumes.
