Written for a doctorate in theology at the Catholic University of America, George J.. Lucas crafts a rebuttal to Herbert Spencer’s work The Unknowable, which claims agnostic science and metaphysics render the concept of a deity untenable. Lucas begins his work with a history of agnosticism, believing it a misunderstood philosophy, before launching into his argument that religion and science can work in harmony, one does not prove the other false.
