Sir John Kincaid served with the 95th Rifles throughout the Peninsular War and the Waterloo campaign in 1815. Written with verve and wit and an eye for an amusing story, Adventures in the Rifle Brigade (as the 95th was known at the time), Kincaid provided an oft imitated pattern for British Rife memoirs. Published originally in 1830 the originality of the book has led to numerous re-editions since.
